Big Dan's Car Wash has signed a multi-year partnership with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to become the NFL team's Official Car Wash, a deal that ties the express wash brand to one of the league's most engaged fan bases in a market central to its growth strategy.
The agreement, announced in a release published by the International Carwash Association, comes four years after Big Dan's entered the Tampa Bay area. Company President Jay Shadday said the deal reflects both the team's on-field record and its community work, calling the Buccaneers a first-class organization and community partner.
Terms of the deal
Under the partnership, Big Dan's will promote the relationship across its marketing channels and run in-person activations at its locations throughout the Tampa Bay region to reach Buccaneers fans. The company framed the sponsorship around shared community priorities, pointing to the team's support for education, youth development, military appreciation and food security as areas that align with its own local giving.
Atul Khosla, the Buccaneers' chief commercial officer, described Big Dan's as a community-minded brand and a natural fit for the organization. The Buccaneers have topped the NFL's annual Voice of the Fan customer satisfaction survey for a record 12 consecutive years, a metric that gives the sponsorship added reach among loyal supporters.
A brand in growth mode
Big Dan's launched its brand in December 2020 under the Shadday Family Office and now operates more than 30 locations across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee, supported by a corporate office in Rome, Georgia. The company said the Tampa Bay region remains an important market as it continues to open new sites and build brand presence across the communities it serves.
The partnership signals how larger regional operators are using high-profile sponsorships to build name recognition in competitive markets. For a chain that has scaled quickly in under six years, aligning with an established professional sports franchise offers a shortcut to visibility that would otherwise take years of individual site marketing to achieve.
Why it matters for operators
Sports sponsorships have long been the territory of national brands, but this deal shows regional car wash chains now have the scale and marketing budgets to compete for them. For operators, the takeaway is less about the specific team and more about the strategy: pairing brand awareness with community credibility in markets where you want to grow membership.
The activation plan is worth noting. Big Dan's is not just buying signage; it is pushing the partnership through its own marketing platforms and on-site at its washes, which is where sponsorship dollars convert into sign-ups. A team affiliation can give a promotion a local hook, but the value depends on turning fan goodwill into unlimited wash club members and repeat traffic.
Smaller operators without the budget for a professional team deal can apply the same logic at a local level. Sponsoring high school athletics, youth leagues or community food drives builds the same community-minded reputation that both Big Dan's and the Buccaneers cited as the foundation of their agreement. The lesson is that community alignment, backed by consistent on-site activation, remains a durable way to differentiate a wash in a crowded market.
