BlueWave Express Car Wash has acquired the former iShine Car Wash location in Pearland, Texas, and rebranded it under its own banner. The deal, completed in August, marks the company's first two-tunnel site, adding a wash format the operator had not previously run in its network.
According to reporting from Professional Carwashing & Detailing, the Pearland acquisition brings BlueWave Express and its sister brand ClearWater Express Wash to a combined 95 locations. The company frames the purchase as part of ongoing expansion across Texas and beyond.
A shared membership across two brands
BlueWave Express and ClearWater Express operate as a single carwash family, and unlimited members can use their plans at any location under either brand. That reciprocity means a member washing near home can also use the membership when commuting across town or traveling into another market served by the two brands.
The company says the newly acquired Pearland site will offer the same wash options, unlimited membership plans and service standards guests find across its network. As the combined footprint grows, the operator points to the added flexibility that reciprocal membership access gives customers.
Adding a two-tunnel format
The most notable operational change is the format itself. The Pearland location becomes the company's first two-tunnel site, a departure from its existing single-tunnel builds. Two-tunnel sites can increase throughput at high-volume locations, though the source did not provide specific volume or capacity figures for the Pearland wash.
To mark its arrival in Pearland, BlueWave Express plans a ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening celebration, with details to be announced. The company says it will invite community members, local leaders and neighboring businesses. It also ties its growth to job creation, team development and support for local organizations in the markets it enters.
Why it matters for operators
Acquiring and rebranding an existing site, rather than building new, remains a common path to growth in a maturing express wash market. For operators watching consolidation, the Pearland deal shows how buyers can absorb an independent location, retain its infrastructure, and fold it into an existing membership base quickly.
The two-tunnel format is worth noting. Most express operators standardize on single-tunnel layouts, so taking on a dual-tunnel site introduces different staffing, maintenance and throughput considerations. Operators evaluating acquisition targets should weigh whether a site's existing build fits their operating model or requires new playbooks.
The reciprocal membership arrangement across BlueWave Express and ClearWater Express also underscores a broader lesson: the value of an unlimited plan scales with network density. Each added location makes existing memberships more useful, which can strengthen retention and reduce churn. For operators running multiple brands or considering partnerships, cross-honoring memberships is a low-cost way to boost perceived value without changing price.
Finally, the grand opening approach, centered on local leaders and neighboring businesses, is a reminder that acquisitions come with a rebranding challenge. When a familiar name like iShine disappears, a community event can help retain the previous location's regulars and introduce the new brand's membership offer.
