Club Car Wash is turning discounted washes into donations for local schools, running a three-day fundraiser at select locations from Aug. 28 to 30. During the event, the chain will offer its MVP Wash for $5, down from a stated $26 value, and give $1 from every purchase to nearby school districts, according to reporting from Professional Carwashing & Detailing.

The Columbia, Missouri based operator said it is partnering with more than two dozen school districts across the 13 states where it operates. Company president Collin Bartels framed the campaign as a way to help students and teachers heading into the fall term, saying the company wants to "give back to key members of the community."

How the promotion works

Beyond the discounted wash and per purchase donation, Club Car Wash built several incentives into the event to draw traffic. The location that records the most washes during the fundraiser will earn an additional $5,000 for its local school district, creating a competitive element across participating sites.

The chain is also layering in giveaways aimed at customers. The first five guests at each participating store on Aug. 29 will receive a free pencil box stocked with back-to-school supplies, and one customer will win a $1,000 gift card hidden inside one of the backpacks. The company is encouraging guests to arrive early for a shot at the prize.

A separate teacher recognition component runs alongside the wash promotion. Club Car Wash is awarding one teacher a $5,000 gift card, with customers able to nominate educators online through Aug. 30. Bartels tied the effort to the lasting influence of teachers, noting that everyone remembers an educator whose "kindness and skill" left a mark.

Why it matters for operators

Club Car Wash is running a familiar playbook that pairs a charitable cause with a deeply discounted wash, and the structure offers a template other operators can study. Cutting a $26 wash to $5 is aggressive, but the campaign is designed to fill lanes during a slower late-summer window and to convert first-time or lapsed customers into future paying guests.

The donation mechanic gives the promotion a clear community story that local media and schools are likely to amplify, extending reach without heavy ad spend. Tying the largest reward to the store that logs the most washes also builds internal competition that can lift throughput across multiple sites at once.

Operators weighing a similar event should watch the margin math. A discounted wash plus a per ticket donation compresses per car revenue, so the return depends on volume, membership conversions, and the goodwill generated. Back-to-school timing aligns the effort with a moment when families and teachers are already primed to engage, and the teacher nomination feature adds a low cost way to collect customer contact data and social engagement. The combination of a cause, prizes, and a defined three-day window is what turns a discount into a marketing event rather than a giveaway.
