EverWash has introduced a QR code product called Quick Scan aimed at helping unattended and in-bay automatic washes turn one-time retail customers into recurring members without an employee on site.

The launch, reported by Auto Laundry News, targets a common gap at staffless locations: there is often no person available to explain a membership plan or walk a customer through signing up. Quick Scan is meant to place that membership pitch directly into the customer journey, from approach signage through the pay station.

How the code works

Quick Scan relies on a single, location-specific QR code that recognizes who is scanning and sends them to the appropriate destination. A retail customer who scans with a phone camera is taken straight to the EverWash signup flow for that specific wash, with no app download or location search required first. According to the company, a customer selects a plan, enters a phone number and billing information, and can become a member in less than 60 seconds. The membership activates immediately, so the new member can run their first wash during the same visit.

For existing EverWash members, the experience is unchanged. They scan the same code from inside the EverWash app and activate a wash as they do today. After signup, new members get a text prompting them to download the app, which they use to activate washes on future visits.

Placing membership throughout the visit

EverWash says operators can add Quick Scan to promotional signage at multiple points before a customer reaches the pay station, creating several chances to introduce membership. At existing locations, the single code merges the member and non-member paths. The company frames the tool as a new sales opportunity that does not require extra staff or changes to the wash experience.

Scott Caplan, CEO and founder of EverWash, said unattended operators have retail customers arriving daily but have lacked a simple way to convert that interest. He described the product as removing friction between interest and membership, pointing to no app store step, no download before joining, and no searching for the correct wash. "It's about removing friction from membership signup," Caplan said.

Why it matters for operators

Unattended and in-bay automatic sites carry a structural disadvantage on membership conversion: without a greeter or attendant, retail traffic tends to stay retail. Any tool that shortens the path from curiosity to a recurring plan addresses a real revenue leak, since membership programs smooth cash flow and raise customer lifetime value compared with single washes.

The practical question for operators is placement and pricing. A code is only as useful as the number of eyeballs that see it, so the value depends on signage strategy along the approach and at the pay station, plus a plan lineup priced to convert on impulse. Operators already using a different membership or point of sale system should weigh how this fits their existing billing and app ecosystem before committing, since new members are steered into the EverWash app for future visits.

For washes without staff, the low-friction, no-download signup is the headline benefit. Testing conversion rates at one location before a wider rollout, and tracking how many QR signups stay active past the first billing cycle, will show whether the tool delivers durable membership revenue or just easy first washes.
