MOJO Family of Brands has converted three existing Florida car washes to its Coastal Car Wash brand, extending the chain's presence across the Tampa Bay region. The rebranded sites are located in Bradenton, Ruskin and Port Charlotte, according to reporting from Professional Carwashing & Detailing.
All three locations are now operating under the Coastal Car Wash name after previously running as independent or differently branded washes. MOJO frames the move as part of continued growth throughout Florida and a strengthening of its position in the Tampa Bay and surrounding markets.
The rebranded sites
The three locations moving under the Coastal Car Wash banner were previously operated under other names. The Bradenton site at 6415 FL-64 was formerly Jax Kar Wash. The Ruskin location at 1430 N U.S. Hwy. 41 previously operated as In & Out Express Carwash. The Port Charlotte site at 2105 S Tamiami Trail was formerly Speedy Clean Car Wash.
Brian Emerson, vice president of operations for the Southeast at MOJO Family of Brands, said the company is bringing the brand to more customers in the area. "We look forward to welcoming longtime customers and new guests," Emerson said, adding that the goal is to show what makes the brand distinct.
A consolidation play in a crowded market
The rebranding reflects a broader pattern of consolidation in the Florida car wash market, where multi-site operators continue to acquire and convert existing locations rather than build new ones from the ground up. Converting established washes lets an operator inherit an existing customer base, a built site and local traffic patterns while applying a unified brand identity, pricing structure and membership program.
Tampa Bay in particular has drawn active expansion. Other operators have recently opened or grown sites in the same market, underscoring how competitive the region has become for both retail wash volume and unlimited membership subscribers.
Why it matters for operators
For operators, MOJO's move is a reminder that acquiring and rebranding existing washes remains one of the fastest routes to scale, especially in markets where good real estate is scarce and permitting for new builds is slow. Converting three sites at once lets a company gain immediate footprint and negotiating leverage with vendors while spreading fixed marketing and management costs across more locations.
The transition period matters most. When a familiar local name such as Jax Kar Wash or Speedy Clean Car Wash disappears, longtime customers can be confused or lost if the changeover is not communicated clearly. Operators watching this playbook should note the importance of retaining former customers through the rebrand, migrating any existing wash plans smoothly and keeping service consistent so the new name does not carry unexpected friction.
For independents in the Tampa Bay area, the consolidation signals intensifying competition. A single brand operating multiple nearby sites can market regionally, offer memberships redeemable across locations and undercut standalone washes on convenience. Smaller operators may need to lean harder on local loyalty, service quality and community ties to hold their ground as branded chains expand around them.
