Summit Wash Holdings has passed 100 locations, a milestone the company reached less than four years after it was founded in 2022. The operator runs its washes under three brands: Speeders, Russell Speeder's, and Waters Car Wash, with sites spread across Connecticut, New York, Nebraska, Missouri, and Florida.

According to reporting from Car Wash Business Center, the membership-focused group has opened eight new locations so far this year and plans more than 10 additional openings before the year ends.

A steady pace of openings

Summit's growth has come through a mix of new builds and acquisitions across several markets. The company opened 24 locations in 2023, including four in Omaha, 13 in Florida, and seven in Connecticut. It followed with eight openings in 2024, split between Florida and Connecticut, and nine more in 2025. One of its fastest expansions came in New Jersey, where the company went from zero to 21 locations in under a year, with more planned in 2026.

Chief Operating Officer and President Kevin Matthews framed the milestone as the product of a deliberate approach, describing it as a reflection of an intentional growth strategy. CEO Dan Pittman said the expansion reflects the trust of clients and partners, adding that the goal is to maintain standards, culture, and a client-first approach as the company scales.

Roots in an established platform

Summit was formed through a partnership between Russell Speeder's Car Wash, a family-owned platform with 21 locations across the Northeast, Nebraska, and Florida, and New Mountain Capital, a New York-based investment firm. Russell Speeder's traces its history to 1963, when it was founded by the Shullman family. Summit is headquartered in both Norwalk, Connecticut, and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The company added the Waters Car Wash brand through an acquisition in 2022 to build out its Florida presence.

Why it matters for operators

Summit's trajectory is another data point in the continued consolidation of the express car wash sector. A platform backed by private equity can move quickly, using both greenfield construction and acquisitions of smaller operators to build density in target markets. For independent operators, the New Jersey example is worth noting: a well-capitalized competitor can establish 21 sites in a state in under a year, changing the competitive landscape in a market almost overnight.

The multi-brand structure is also instructive. Rather than rebranding every acquired wash under a single national name, Summit has kept Speeders, Russell Speeder's, and Waters as distinct brands tied to their local markets. Operators weighing acquisition offers or considering their own expansion should watch whether retaining established local brand equity produces better membership retention than forcing a single identity.

Finally, the membership-focused model remains central to how these larger groups operate. Recurring subscription revenue supports the aggressive build pace and gives acquirers predictable cash flow to underwrite further growth. Independents competing against these chains will need a clear plan for defending their own membership base, whether through pricing, service quality, or community ties that a fast-scaling regional player may struggle to match.
