Tidal Wave Auto Spa has acquired, rebranded and reopened a car wash in Columbia, South Carolina, expanding its footprint in the market to four locations. The site at 1027 Elmwood Ave. opened Monday, Oct. 26, according to reporting from Professional Carwashing & Detailing.

The acquisition folds the location into Tidal Wave's broader network, which now spans 338 locations across 30 states. Members can use their membership at any site in that network, a benefit the company emphasized as it welcomed both existing and new customers to the Columbia-area wash.

Expanded presence in the Columbia market

The Elmwood Avenue site joins three other Tidal Wave locations in the greater Columbia area: Forum Drive, Killian and Piney Grove. The company said the added location gives members more convenient options for using their membership across the area.

The renovated facility runs on Tidal Wave's premium service model and updated equipment. Amenities include vehicle prep ahead of the wash, high-pressure vacuums, complimentary tire air stations, and mat and interior cleaning stations stocked with cleaning solutions and towels.

To mark the opening, the company is offering an introductory rate of $9.97 for the first month on any monthly membership plan, available only during the first week.

Community tie-in at launch

Tidal Wave paired the opening with a Giveback Day on Thursday, Oct. 29, supporting Clear Dot Charter School Columbia, a tuition-free public charter school serving students from 4K through 12th grade. The company donated $1 for every free wash and $5 for every new Tidal Wave Clean Club membership sold during the event.

Founder and CEO Scott Blackstock tied the opening to the company's local commitments, saying the Columbia growth is "about more than carwashes." He added that Tidal Wave aims to be "a trusted part of the Columbia community."

Why it matters for operators

Tidal Wave's Columbia move illustrates a growth strategy built on acquiring existing sites and converting them to a unified brand rather than developing every location from the ground up. For operators weighing expansion, acquisition and rebranding can shorten the path to market and immediately plug a site into an established membership base.

The clustering approach is also worth noting. By concentrating four locations in one metro, Tidal Wave increases the practical value of its membership, since customers can wash at multiple nearby sites. That density can strengthen retention and make a monthly plan more appealing, a dynamic independents competing in the same market should factor into their own pricing and convenience messaging.

The launch playbook combines an aggressive introductory offer with a local charitable tie-in. The $9.97 first-month rate, limited to one week, is designed to drive fast membership signups at opening, while the Giveback Day links new memberships to a community cause. Operators planning a grand opening can take note of how the two tactics reinforce each other: the time-limited discount creates urgency, and the donation structure gives customers an added reason to convert during the launch window.
