Nominations are now open for the 2026 edition of the Top 50 List of U.S. Conveyor Carwashes, the annual ranking that recognizes the largest express and conveyor operators in the country. Operators have until Oct. 31, 2026, to submit their entries.
According to reporting from Professional Carwashing & Detailing, this year's process has been revamped. The outlet built a new online portal to gather nomination details and is asking companies more questions upfront than in previous cycles.
What operators need to know
The nomination form is available through the outlet's Top 50 List page and can also be reached from the navigation menu on Carwash.com. Editorial content manager Meagan Kusek said the goal this year is to streamline how information is collected and presented.
For operators with deals in progress, the timing is designed to protect confidentiality. The outlet noted that some pending acquisitions or new openings may not yet be public, and it confirmed that submitted information will not be published until Dec. 1, 2026. That gives chains a window to report growth that has not been formally announced without tipping their hand before they are ready.
Companies weighing whether to participate can review the historical record. The outlet maintains a page hosting every Top 50 List going back to 2010, which shows how the competitive landscape has shifted over more than a decade and where individual operators have ranked over time.
Why the list matters
The Top 50 has become a widely referenced benchmark for scale in the conveyor segment. Rankings are typically driven by site counts and expansion activity, so the list functions as a snapshot of consolidation across a market that has seen heavy acquisition and greenfield development in recent years. Placement on the list, or movement up it, is often cited by operators and investors as a marker of momentum.
Why it matters for operators
For multi-site conveyor operators, the nomination window is a low-cost opportunity worth calendaring before Oct. 31. Inclusion on a recognized industry ranking carries marketing and recruiting value, and it can strengthen positioning with lenders, landlords, and potential acquisition partners who track scale in the segment.
The expanded questionnaire means operators should prepare accurate figures ahead of time rather than scrambling at the deadline. Pulling together current and projected site counts, pending deals, and opening timelines in advance will make submission faster and reduce the risk of understating growth.
The Dec. 1 publication embargo is a practical detail for chains managing confidential transactions. It allows operators to report expansion that is under contract but not yet announced, so growth that closes in the fourth quarter can still be captured without forcing a premature disclosure. Operators who have historically skipped the list because of timing concerns may find the delayed publication removes that obstacle. Reviewing past lists before submitting can also help operators gauge where they realistically stand and set expectations internally.
