Way, an auto ownership software and services company, has introduced Way Car Wash, a platform built to help operators convert one-time customers into recurring members without leaning on price cuts. The product is now available to single-site and multi-site operators across the United States, according to reporting from Car Wash Business Center.

The launch targets a familiar tension in the membership era: discounts can drive short-term traffic but often fail to build durable loyalty. Citing IBISWorld figures, the company frames the pitch around a car wash industry it describes as worth more than $20 billion and growing at a 4 to 5 percent compound annual rate, with monthly subscription programs increasingly driving predictable, recurring revenue.

How the platform works

Way Car Wash combines customer recognition, membership management, and follow-up in a single system rather than stitching together a point-of-sale add-on and a separate customer relationship tool. License plate recognition identifies returning vehicles in real time, while automated reminders and bundled everyday benefits, such as fuel savings and complementary oil changes, are meant to give members value beyond the wash itself.

The company says the platform also improves the single-wash experience through QR-code payments, automatic capture of customer contact information, and follow-up messages triggered by actual visits and weather patterns. Operators get real-time visibility into visits, membership activity, and engagement without changing how the wash physically operates.

Ro Krishna, a vice president at Way, said most car wash software helps operators send messages, while the new product is designed to give customers a reason to stay. Bob Arroyo, owner of Champs Car Wash and an early user, said memberships previously felt like a race to the bottom on price and that the platform helped his site recognize customers automatically and add benefits people care about, resulting in what he described as stronger retention and more repeat visits.

The company lists the outcomes operators tend to notice first as fewer canceled memberships, more repeat visits, higher-value memberships without deep discounts, and customers who feel recognized rather than marketed to.

A crowded growth-software field

Way enters a segment that already includes several established players competing to help washes manage and grow subscription bases. Way positions itself as an auto services platform used by millions of drivers and owners, offering benefits tied to broader vehicle ownership. That distinguishes its approach from tools focused strictly on wash-specific messaging and billing, though operators evaluating any of these systems will want to test the specific claims against their own data.

Why it matters for operators

Membership retention is now the core financial question for most conveyor and express washes, because recurring revenue smooths seasonality and raises the value of each location. Any tool that promises to cut cancellations and lift member value without discounting is worth a look, but vendor claims should be verified before signing on.

Operators considering Way Car Wash should ask how license plate recognition integrates with existing gate and point-of-sale hardware, who owns the customer data, and how bundled third-party benefits like fuel savings and oil changes are funded and fulfilled. The everyday-driver perks are a differentiator, but they only help retention if customers actually redeem them. Run a pilot, measure churn and repeat-visit rates against your current baseline, and confirm the switching costs before committing across multiple sites.
