Wild Blue Car Wash turned a single day of business into a community fundraiser last month, teaming with the Marshall Football Association to raise more than $2,500 for a local high school football program. The July 18 event took place at the operator's Marshall, Missouri, location on West College Street.

According to reporting from Professional Carwashing & Detailing, the wash donated 50% of all sales during the event to the Marshall Football Association, with the money earmarked to support the Marshall Owls football program and its student-athletes.

How the event worked

The fundraiser paired the wash's normal operations with volunteer labor from the football association. Volunteers helped dry vehicles, vacuum interiors and collect additional donations from customers throughout the day. That gave community members several ways to contribute beyond simply buying a wash.

The funds raised will go toward providing nutritious meals before and after games and hydration for players during the season. Ashley Boock, vice president of the Marshall Football Association, thanked the wash and the community for turning out, and cited the group's motto of "One Town, One Team, Full Plates, Culture = Greatness."

The event is part of Wild Blue Car Wash's broader Charity Wash program, which lets local schools, youth organizations, nonprofits and community groups raise money while strengthening ties to the areas they serve. Drew Green of Wild Blue Car Wash said the company was honored to partner with groups making a difference for local students and thanked customers, volunteers and donors for making the event a success.

Why it matters for operators

Charity wash days remain one of the most accessible community marketing tools available to a wash operator, and this event shows how the mechanics can work. By donating a percentage of sales rather than a flat sum, the wash tied its contribution directly to turnout, which gives the partner organization an incentive to promote the event and drive its own supporters to the site.

Bringing in volunteers from the beneficiary group also lowers the labor cost of a busy day while adding a personal touch at the point of service. Customers interacting with the very student-athletes they are supporting creates a stronger emotional connection than a standard transaction, and it can convert first-time visitors into repeat guests.

For operators, a structured, repeatable program like a named Charity Wash offering makes these partnerships easier to scale across locations. It gives community groups a clear path to approach the business, sets consistent terms for the split of proceeds, and generates local goodwill and press coverage that paid advertising rarely matches. The key is choosing partners with active, motivated supporter bases, since the fundraising total depends heavily on how many cars the organization can bring through the tunnel.
