Rocket Express Car Wash marked the completion of upgrades across all five of its Idaho and Utah locations with a two-day customer appreciation event offering free washes on August 14 and 15, according to reporting from Auto Laundry News.

The renovations covered refreshed building exteriors, updated customer-facing areas, and operational improvements meant to speed up and streamline the wash experience. Rocket Express is a brand of ZIPS Car Wash, whose CEO Pete Nani framed the investment as a commitment to both facilities and local communities.

Community recognition at South Jordan

At the South Jordan, Utah, location outside Salt Lake City, the company used the celebration to recognize Summer Anderson, a recipient of a Rocket Express Folds of Honor scholarship. Anderson, a Saratoga Springs native, is a sophomore at the University of Utah studying psychology and sociology and participating in the school's ROTC program with plans to become a U.S. Army officer. She has said she hopes to focus her career on serving veterans, particularly those dealing with PTSD.

The scholarship recognizes the service of her father, Command Sgt. Major Brad Lee Anderson, who served more than 20 years in the Army as an EOD and ammunition specialist and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom before being disabled in the line of duty.

Nani said the company was honored to recognize Anderson and her commitment to a legacy of service. He tied the recognition to the values Folds of Honor supports and said the brand would continue that support.

Why it matters for operators

Rocket Express paired physical upgrades with a community event and a philanthropic tie-in, a combination that gives a renovation reopening more reach than a simple facility refresh. Free wash days drive traffic and give members and prospective customers a reason to experience updated sites firsthand, while a charitable partnership creates a local story worth sharing beyond a discount promotion.

For operators planning renovations, the sequencing here is instructive. The company bundled exterior refreshes, updated customer areas, and throughput improvements into a single push, then marketed the completion as an event rather than letting the work pass unnoticed. Operational improvements aimed at faster, more efficient service also matter for retention, since speed and convenience are among the factors that keep unlimited members active.

The Folds of Honor element shows how a national parent company can localize its brand. Recognizing a specific scholarship recipient at a specific location ties corporate philanthropy to a real community connection, which tends to resonate more with customers than a generic donation announcement. Operators weighing charitable partnerships can take note that pairing giving with a reopening amplifies both efforts at once.
